NEVERMIND THE WHITE STRIPES, HERE’S JUCIFER

I don’t usually like to indulge in the whole “is-it-or-is-it-not-metal?” debate; in my formative years, when Rikki Rachtman hosted Headbanger’s Ball, it wasn’t uncommon to see a Poison video right next to a Slayer video, and in case you can’t tell by the content of this site, that’s pretty much the way we like it.

All of that being said, I’m not convinced that Jucifer is a metal band- even if they are on Relapse (The Dresden Dolls are on Roadrunner, and I KNOW they ain’t no metal band). What Jucifer are is a really, really GOOD band. Like The White Stripes, they consist of two members, one male (drummer Edgar Livengood), one female (guitarist/vocalist Amber Valentine); unlike The White Stripes, they don’t, y’know, totally suck.

ANYWAY, now they’ve announced a Spring tour. Dates are as follows:

April 26 – Toronto, ON – Silver Dollar
April 28 – Guelph, ON – Shadow
April 30 – Hamilton, ON – The Underground
May 01 – London, ON – Call The Office
May 04 – Rochester, NY – Bug Jar
May 05 – Burlington, VT – 242 Main
May 09 – Providence, RI – Redrum
May 18 – Reading, PA – The Silo
May 21 – Brooklyn, NY – Europa
May 23 – Washington, DC – Rock N Roll Hotel
May 24 – Baltimore, MD – Otto Bar
June 07 – Charlotte, NC – The Milestone
June 09 – Savannah, GA – The Jinx
June 10 – Charleston, SC – Village Tavern
June 22 – Johnson City, TN – The Hideaway

I’ve never had the chance to see these cats live before, but you can bet your ass that I will see this tour come hell or high water.
