Back in June, Marilyn Manson slammed My Chemical Romance for allegedly ripping-off his gimmick: “I’m embarrassed to be me because these people are doing a really sad, pitiful, shallow version of what I’ve done,” Manson said at the time. “If they want to identify with me then here’s a razor blade. Call me when you’re done and we’ll talk.” Manson even went on record as saying that his new song “Mutilation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery” (sample lyric: “You steal instead of borrow / You take all the shapes that I make / And you think that you thought / All the thoughts that I thought you / Don’t you?”) was about My Chem (which, I’m told, is what the kids call the band).

At the time, we wrote it off as typical Manson shit-slinging for publicity’s sake – he did have a new album coming out, after all – but it wasn’t until last night that Manson’s true motivation for taking aim at MCR singer Gerard Way and his band suddenly dawned us: Manson’s girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, has appeard in the music videos for Manson’s own “Heartshaped Glasses”… and My Chemical Romance’s “The Ghost of You.” Could it be that Manson isn’t the first goth rocker to give Evan Rachel his wood? Watch both videos after the jump and decide for yourself.
