THE CAVALERA CONSPIRACY CONTINUES TO BE ANTI-CLIMACTIC
Metal Underground reports that The Cavalera Conspiracy – the poorly named new band that reunites brothers/former Sepultura members Max and Igor Cavalera alongside Soulfly/ex-Ill Nino axe slinger Marc Rizzo and Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier (who, mysteriously enough, will be playing bass for the band) – made their live debut last week at Max’s annual memorial concert for his deceased step son. I don’t know if they played any new songs, but below is some fan footage of the band’s opening number, the also poorly-named “Inflikted” – which, you may recall, was initially released as a Igor-less Soulfly demo and was The Cavalera Conspiracy’s original moniker as well.
Even though Soulfly finally won me over with their last album, 2005’s Dark Ages, and their killer live performance at last summer’s Download Festival, well… if this new “supergroup” is just gonna play recycled Soulfly material, count me out, please.
