WHAT’S SO FUNNY ABOUT PEACE, LOVE, AND NAPALM DEATH?

Two Napalm Death stories in as many days! Yowza!

So the Gods of Grind have been experiencing something of a renaissance with their excellent last two albums, The Code is Red… Long Live the Code and Smear Campaign; now the extreme metal pioneers are back in the studio working on an album about love, beauty, and helping your fellow man.

Wait… what?!?

In a statement, vocalist Barney Greenway explains:

“[The album] will be intense, naturally, and like always we’ll be looking to move things along a notch production-wise and stylistically. Conceptually, it will, generally speaking, be a tale of analyzing life and stripping it back to the point where I’m asking the question: why are we killing ourselves to get ahead and not appreciating the real simplistic, beautiful things around us? If that sounds hippy-ish, I don’t care, ha ha.”

Of course, knowing Napalm Death, I’m sure they’ll talk about appreciate the real simplistic, beautiful things around them in the angriest possible way imaginable. I mean, this band ain’t gonna turn around and record “Here Comes the Sun” or anything like that.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with how awesome the last couple of Napalm Death albums were, here’s the band’s video for “When All is Said and Done” from Smear Campaign. I’m fairly certain that this is the most melodic song on the album.
