NEW PERIPHERY LYRIC VIDEO: “MAKE TOTAL DESTROY” THE MAN

Lyric videos are pretty cool for a lot of reasons, but I especially enjoy learning what these guys are actually going on about. I couldn’t tell you what almost all of the songs on my favorite albums of the past five years are about (’cause growled vocals are, like, hard to understand). Not that it really matters… these days most metal vocalists are essentially just hypemen using their voice as an instrument anyway. But with lyric videos that changes! Words! Meaning! Understandable!

Here’s Periphery’s lyric video for their recent single “Make Total Destroy.” The lyrical themes of failed leadership, bringing the power back to the people and making those in charge repent for their transgressions sound like rhetoric from this past fall’s Occupy protests (not that that’s a bad thing), and who knows, maybe that was the song’s inspiration.
