DevilDriver Take a Stand Against Cold Weather

  • Axl Rosenberg

DevilDriver’s new album, Winter Kills, is an important one for them. For one thing, it’s their first since parting ways with Roadrunner Records, the only label to whom they have ever previously been signed. And for another, now that there’s been a Coal Chamber reunion, Dez Fafara — and by extension, the whole band — has to reclaim the credibility they spent the last ten years winning in the first place.

Unfortunately, the album art for their new album isn’t really gonna help them with that last part:

Coal Chamber - Winter Kills

I kid, I kid. The actual album art for Winter Kills is considerably less amusing:

DevilDriver - Winter Kills

Of course, at the end of the day, what’s really gonna matter is how the music on the album sounds, not what the cover art looks like, what other band any member was or is in, and whether or not the title is a reference to Game of Thrones. I suppose we shall find out when Napalm releases Winter Kills on August 27. That’s my mom’s birthday, which somehow seems appropriate.
