“Vorel”: Get Your First Taste of Russian Circles’ Guidance

Hot on the heels of the announcement that their new album, Guidance, will drop in August, Russian Circles have released the first single from that album. It’s called “Vorel,” and it’s unsurprisingly terrific. I’ve long said that this band writes soundtracks to the most awesome, epic movies that don’t actually exist; in the case of “Vorel,” that movie is about an enemy that is tribal, predatory, and stealthy, like a far more expensive, more sophisticated Cannibal Holocaust where the man eaters stalk into the shadows before gutting their meal. Listen to the part that kicks in around 3:13 and tell me you can’t see in your head.
