Exclusive Premiere: Vangough, “Morphine”
We’re gonna give it to you straight, since we know that’s how you like it: if you’re a fan of progressive, moody, undeniably heavy but delicately nuanced metal along the lines of Ihsahn, Leprous, or even Devin Townsend, you’re gonna absolutely love Vangough. Some other touchstones: Pain of Salvation and Fates Warning, both of whom the Oklahoma City-based trio has toured in support of in the recent past.
Vangough’s new album Warpaint took over a year to create. One listen to “Morphine,” which we’re premiering today, and you’ll understand why: it was clearly crafted with intimate care, every note, every drum hit, every harmonic choice endlessly thought out, rehashed and fine-tuned until it was just right. We think you’ll agree that the results are quite impressive.
