Listen: Psych-Rockers Ecstatic Vision Want to Know if “You Got it (Or You Don’t)”?

Ecstatic Vision aren’t new to the scene; they’ve been a part of modern psych-rock’s tapestry since 2015. And while I feel that the movement has become a bit cluttered as of late, Ecstatic Vision’s music has an inherent passion that propels it way beyond many of the other acts in the genre. With other emerging artists like Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, River Cult, and Comet Control earning their time in the spotlight, it’s only fair that this talented group of guys gets theirs as well.

With so many psychedelic bands these days it’s difficult for a group, even one that’s already established, to step out ahead of their peers and make a name for themselves. I don’t know if Ecstatic Vision will become a genre staple but they certainly deserve to. Their music has a quality to it that radiates a raw intensity. It’s flawed but fun, aggressive but approachable. It’s got all the warmth and familiarity that comes with the style’s resurgence but comes packed with young energy that escalates their presence to another level.

The Philly-based quintet will release their second LP, Raw Rock Fury, via Relapse on April 7th, and if their first single “You Got It (Or You Don’t)” is reflective of the album as a whole this thing record is going to be a lot of fun.

Here’s their statement about the upcoming release:

“With Raw Rock Fury we set out to make an album that would remind listeners of what an unpolished, dangerous rock recording should sound like. This is the opening composition entitled “You Got It (Or You Don’t).” Prepare for a searing mash-up of the driving rhythms of Sly & The Family Stone mixed with the sounds of Hawkwind playing Funhouse-era Troglodyte Rock.”

That’s a pretty damn apt description. Check out their debut single below, preferably while tripping. If you dig them, you can pre-order their upcoming record here or give them a like on their Facebook page.
