Guns N’ Roses Release “Shadow of Your Love,” Formally Announce Appetite for Destruction Reissue

We knew this was coming, but Guns N’ Roses have now officially announced the impending release of a thirtieth thirty-first anniversary edition of their legendary debut, Appetite for Destruction. And not to pat myself on the back, but I pretty much called it with regards to “Shadow of Your Love” being the first single and with regards to the bonus material:

“I imagine most of it will be stuff that hardcore fans have already been passing around for thirty years, like covers of ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ and demos for songs that were intended for Appetite but ended up on Use Your Illusion (e.g., ‘November Rain,’ ‘Don’t Cry,’ etc.). I can’t imagine there’s a bunch of never-before-heard songs that have been sitting in a vault for thirty-one years without anyone mentioning it ever.”

The set will also included the “It’s So Easy” music video, which never got an official release because it was too racy for MTV in 1987, but which has also been floating around in bootleg form for many years. In other words, it’s neat that all this stuff is getting an official release, but it’s nothing GN’R acolytes don’t have already. In fact, the only bonus track I don’t recognize is called “The Plague.”

This ‘Locked N’ Loaded’ reissue of Appetite for Destruction will be released June 29 in a variety of editions… including a super mega boxset which will cost you a mere $1,000. And they’re “only” make 10,000 of those. Which, for those of you who aren’t great at math, means if they sell them all (which they will), they’ll make $10 million from those alone. Even subtracting production and distribution costs, this reissue is going to add considerably to the band’s ever-growing fortune.

You can pre-order all the various versions of Appetite for Deuxstruction here . Below, watch unboxing videos for the $1,000 box set and its cheaper, $179 cousin, plus a press release detailing all the shit included in these motherfuckers.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go take out a third mortgage on my house so I can afford this box set.

The Appetite For Destruction: Locked N’ Loaded box is the one true GN’R Holy Grail. The box includes the Super Deluxe Edition with 4CDs featuring the album newly remastered for the first time ever; B-sides N’ EPs newly remastered; the previously unreleased 1986 Sound City Session N’ More recordings; a Blu-ray Audio disc with the album, bonus tracks and music videos in brand new 5.1 surround sound along with the unearthed music video for “It’s So Easy” originally shot in 1989 but never finished; and a 96-page hardcover book showcasing unseen photos from Axl Rose’s personal archive and a wealth of memorabilia. In addition, the Locked N’ Loaded box contains high quality collectables including seven 12-inch 180g audiophile vinyl discs, seven 7-inch singles on yellow vinyl, a dozen lithos newly visualizing each song on Appetite, 5 custom hand-made metal-cast band skull face rings, 5 hand-made metal-cast band skull face lapel pins, buttons, patches, replica concert tickets and gig flyers, 5 metal skull face and signature-stamped guitar picks, a turntable mat, wall posters, replica ‘85/’86 club days banner, a Robert Williams painting litho, never-before-seen band lithos, a numbered certificate of authenticity and more.
