In-store video of ravenous shoppers crushing store employees underfoot won’t be the most brutal thing to come out this Black Friday… for that is the very same day Cattle Decapitation will release their new album, Death Atlas.

This according to the below tweet and teaser video (which is sadly lacking any new music) from the band’s longtime label, Metal Blade:

We were pretty sure we were gonna get a new Cattle Decap offering this year — they announced that they were hitting the studio back in May, when they also debuted a new song, “An Extreme Indifference to Human Life,” during a show in New Mexico. Still, it’s great news to have official confirmation and a concrete release date to mark in your calendars. Cattle Decapitation are consistently one of the best death metal bands out there today; they’ve never made a bad album before, and there’s no reason to believe they’ll start now.

Cattle Decap begin their co-headlining run on this year’s Summer Slaughter just about a week from now, so it’s not so far-fetched to imagine we’ll get an official studio recording of a single soon.

Death Atlas reunites Cattle Decapitation with producer Dave Otero, with whom they also collaborated on their last two albums, Monolith of Inhumanity and The Anthropocene Extinction. It will also mark the studio debut of new members Olivier Pinard (bass, Cryptopsy, Neuraxis) and Belisario Dimuzio (guitars, Eukaryst).
