Intronaut Confirm Alex Rudinger as Session Drummer, Collaboration with Ben Sharp (Cloudkicker), Tool Not Involved

0

Earlier this week, Intronaut fans snooped out that drummer Alex Rudinger of Whitechapel / Good Tiger / The Faceless / Threat Signal fame (unfortunately he has yet to play with the only three truly important bands on earth, Metallica, Tool or Slipknot) was in the studio with the band recording their next album, the follow-up to The Direction of Last Things (2019).

The band has now issued a statement confirming Rudinger’s involvement, revealing that he’s been involved with the writing process for the past year. Whether he’ll tour with Intronaut remains up in the air due to his busy schedule, but the band didn’t shut the door on the idea.

What’s more, old pal Ben Sharp (aka Cloudkicker) was involved in writing for the album and will appear on the recording as well. The two acts have a shared history, as Intronaut served as the Cloudkicker backing band on tour a few years back and then released a live album.

Finally, Josh Newell is recording the album and Kurt Ballou will mix it. Whoop!

Here’s Intronaut’s message:

“Just wanted to let you all know that we are in the studio making the sixth Intronaut full-length, and do indeed have none other than Alex Rudinger playing drums on this new record. We have been working with him for over a year now writing this thing, and his high level of enthusiasm and insane work ethic really helped us make an excellent bunch of songs together. This guy is an absolute beast and this album is going to be our best yet by far. As of now he has committed to doing just the album, but hopefully if our schedules allow for it he will come play some live shows with us as well.

“Also worth noting, our best friend Ben Sharp (aka Cloudkicker) has written a couple riffs and recorded some guitar parts on this album as well.

“We are tracking at Clear Lake Audio in Los Angeles with Josh Newell as we speak, and in late September Kurt Ballou will mix at his studio.”
