A tale of two festivals:

Rocklahoma 2020, which was scheduled for May 22 – May 24, has been cancelled. The fest would have featured Slipknot, Anthrax, Body Count, Halestorm, Five Finger Death Punch, Staind, Bad Wolves, Alter Bridge, Jinjer, and others. Pass holders can either get a refund or transfer their pass to Rocklahoma 2021. Here’s a statement from the fest’s organizers:

“This is tough. For thirteen straight years Rocklahoma has been America’s Biggest Memorial Day Party. Not being able to bring it to you for year fourteen breaks our hearts, but it is the right thing to do. At the direction of state and local authorities and federal guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we are so f’ing bummed to announce that Rocklahoma will be postponed to 2021.

“We raise our glasses to you, our fans. Every single damn year you show up. You rock out in Pryor. You build a community of die-hard rock fans and open your doors to your neighbors in the campgrounds. We can’t wait to get to work on 2021 and deliver the best weekend possible to you.

“All Rocklahoma 2020 pass holders who purchased passes through our official ticket provider, Elevate, will have the ability to transfer their pass to 2021 or receive a full refund. Pass holders will receive an email outlining the refund and transfer process on Wednesday, April 8. If you do not receive an email or have any questions, please contact Festival Ticketing Support by emailing support AT festivalticketing DOT com. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9:00AM – 6:00PM CST.”

Meanwhile, the 2020 edition of the UK’s Bloodstock Open Air, which is scheduled to take place August 6 -9, is still planning to go on… in fact, they’ve just added another five bands to the line-up:

“In these unprecedented times BLOODSTOCK HQ wishes to reassure everyone that currently, BLOODSTOCK 2020 event planning is proceeding with full care and attention, in order to bring you the best event yet to celebrate 20 Years of BLOODSTOCK. The team are closely monitoring government guidelines and co-operating with the relevant authorities to assure the best and safest environment and will continue to keep you updated with any further developments.

“SO.. We welcome 5 more bands to the bill!”

The five new bands are Video Nasties, Lost Society, Wolf Jaw, Grave Lines, and Vexed. They join an already-stacked bill that includes Judas Priest, Devin Townsend, Paradise Lost, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation, Hatebreed, Sylosis, Sacred Reich, and a few trillion others. Fingers crossed that this show really does go on…
