Sh*t That Comes Out Today: July 9, 2021

Two months until Carcass!

Domination Campaign
Onward To Glory (Prosthetic)

Jason Peppiatt of Tasmania’s best (only?) tech-death crew Psycroptic decided to stretch his legs with Domination Campaign and engage in some death metal madness that’s slightly less technical. It works! Along with Psycroptic drummer Joe Haley, Peppiatt bashes out some groovy caveman DM and wrecks everything in his path. Wreck your neck the down-under way.

Atavistic Black Disorder/Kommando EP (Century Media)

Once the scariest act in the world, now releasing B-sides/covers EPs. Mayhem have gone on quite the journey over the past three decades. The three originals display their mastery of the genre they created and the four punk covers make for some fun trifles. Nothing to make you want to have relations with someone’s innards using a power tool, that’s for sure.

Victims of the Times (Lupus Lounge / Prophecy Productions)

I’d been warned to avoid Scott Conner’s unplugged material. Hell, I steadfastly avoided his lo-fi black metal stuff that people actually liked. I should’ve listened. I guess he’s going for an acid folk thing here but these little tuneless acoustic sketches prove that black metal’s hiss aesthetic does the listener a favor by obscuring the words and most of the instruments.
