Listen: Chad Gray (Mudvayne, Hellyeah) Covers Beck’s “Loser” With Violent Idols

0

Mudvayne/Hellyeah vocalist Chad Gray has teamed up with Violent Idols for a new cover of Beck’s iconic ’90s hit, “Loser.”

I’ll say this for the track: Gray definitely made it is his own. No one will ever mistake this for the original.

Unfortunately, “his own,” in this case, is very much a late-’90s/MTV’s Return of the Rock-era nu-metal song. In other words, Scientology is no longer the most annoying thing about Beck.

Says Gray of the recording:

“Hey Metal Kidz so here we go again. I hooked up with my friends in Violent Idols to do a cover of ‘Loser’ by Beck. This thing was so much fun. We have a little tempo and a little teeth and I’m super happy with it. Just one more track in my solo side shitz. I hope that you all enjoy! I can’t wait to see you back on stage sooner than later. Don’t take this too seriously as I didn’t. Just having some fun with good friends for good people! Stay Metal AF! And enjoy.”

You can listen below if my description didn’t dissuade you.

Mudvayne currently have four reunion shows scheduled for this year:

09/11 Mansfield, OH – Inkcarceration [tickets]
09/26 Louisville, KY – Louder Than Life [tickets]
10/09 Sacramento, CA – Aftershock Festival [tickets]
11/14 Daytona Beach, FL – Welcome To Rockville [tickets]
