Evan Rachel Wood Responds to Marilyn Manson/Kanye West Alliance Through Song

Evan Rachel Wood has responded to the recent collaboration between Marilyn Manson and Kanye West… albeit it via song.

Wood, you’re likely aware, began the deluge of abuse allegations against Manson (born Brian Warner), her ex-fiancé, in February. While she had implied in the past that Manson abused her, this was the first time she explicitly named the shock rocker.

Since then, scores of other women have come forward with similar accusations. Several of them are also suing Manson.

Last week, Manson made his first public appearance since the allegations began, appearing on stage with West in Chicago at an event for the rapper’s new album, Donda. Over the weekend, word spread that Manson also appears on that record.

On Saturday, August 28, Wood let her response be known via a cover of the New Radicals’ 1998 hit “Get What You Give.” The track features a reference to Manson in its lyrics; upon reaching that part of the song, Wood proudly held up a middle finger.

Sharing video of the performance on social media, Wood wrote:

“For my fellow survivors who got slapped in the face this week. I love you. Don’t give up.”

You can watch the video below.

In July, Manson turned himself into authorities to face two misdemeanor assault charges stemming from an August 2019 during which the shock rocker allegedly spit on a videographer. Manson was subsequently released on personal recognizance bail, under the conditions that he cannot commit any crimes while on release, he cannot have any contact with the alleged victim, and he must appear at all of his court hearings.
