Y’know what’s even better than a great band? A great band that isn’t creatively stagnant. And y’know what’s even better than a great band that isn’t creatively stagnant? A great band that isn’t creatively stagnant AND actually pulls off their artistic evolution with nary a misstep.

Take, for example, Cattle Decapitation. Once upon a time — in the days of Human Jerky (1999) and Homovore (2000) — the band was a side project for The Locust’s Dave Astor and Gabe Serbian. After more than twenty years, seven more albums, and a plethora of line-up changes, Cattle Decap have grown into one of the best death metal bands in the world. But those early releases are both still totally killer! If every death/grind release were so exemplary, the world would be a better place.

Now Three G One Records is releasing a reissue of Homovore remastered by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Khemmis, Allegaeon, etc.), who produced the band’s most recent unholy trinity of Monolith of Inhumanity (2012), The Anthropocene Extinction (2015), and Death Atlas (2019). And to say the album has never sounded good would be an understatement. It’s so crisp and so clear… if the original Homovore was like being punched by so many people at once you may has well have had a boulder dropped on your head, Homovore 2021 really makes you feel each individual blow. It’s a GREAT excuse to revisit this excellent album (not that you should even need an excuse).

MetalSucks is very, VERY excited to be debut this devilish new incarnation of Homovore, which you can stream below!

The digital version of the Homovore reissue is available for purchase now. CD and cassette editions are scheduled to be released on October 29. Then, on January 16, Three G One will release a very limited number of variant vinyls — 500 copies in “Release the Gimp” color, and 300 copies in “Wine of the Sanguine” color. Check out photos below. Pre-order any and all of the iterations here!
