Alexi Laiho’s Ashes Have Been Buried at Last

Late Children of Bodom frontman Alexi Laiho’s ashes have been buried at last — nearly a year after the guitarist/vocalist’s death.

Laiho’s widow, Kelli Wright, revealed the news in a social media post earlier today:

“Finally, with extremely mixed emotions, I can announce my late, unconditionally and forever loved husband’s ashes were buried yesterday on our 4th Wedding Anniversary. The family Laiho plot is where he was buried. Alexi and Kelli 2005 – eternity ????????????

In March, Alexi’s sister, Anna Laiho, accused Alexi’s ex-wife, Kimberly Goss, of delaying the burial process:

“Kimberly Goss currently prevents our family from burying Aleksi’s ashes and the situation has been this ever since the funeral took place on 28.1.2021. You see, this is how Kimberly Goss uses her legal rights as a widow, preventing griefing mother and father bury their own son. Her selfish and narcissistic explanation is that she wanted to take part in the funeral and still wants to be present when the ashes are buried. But our family does not want this monster anywhere near us.”

Anna now tells Finland’s Ilta-Sanomat that the conflict has been resolved:

“We are very relieved that the protracted dispute is over and we get to focus on grief work in a new way.”

Laiho passed away last December at the age of 41 as the result of “alcohol-induced degeneration of the liver and pancreas connective tissue” (he also “had a cocktail of painkillers, opioids and insomnia medication in his system”). His final recordings, with his new band Bodom After Midnight, were released in April under the title Paint the Sky with Blood.
