The New Metalocalypse Movie and Album are Coming This August, New Song “Aortic Desecration” Out Now

We may never get another season of Brendon Small’s metal opus Metalocalypse, but we’re finally getting that movie we were promised after what feels like an eternity. Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar is coming out on August 22 and it’s following in the steps of other cult classics by going straight to digital and Blu-ray.

After checking out the trailer below, I cannot express how stoked I am for this movie. It’s brutal as hell and looks to be the exciting and supremely metal end of the story. Check out the synopsis:

After the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth, DETHKLOK frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself traumatized in a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge: write the SONG OF SALVATION and save the planet. Can Nathan Explosion look beyond his brutally damaged ego to save his band, stop the Metalocalypse, and finally face the ultimate evil: Salacia?

According to the official press release, the movie will feature voiceover cameos from: Tommy Blacha, Victor Brandt (Metalocalypse), Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner (Grammy® Award-winning musician), King Diamond (KING DIAMOND; MERCYFUL FATE), Mark Hamill (Batman: The Animated Series; The Machine), Kirk Hammett (METALLICA), Jon Hamm (Confess, Fletch; Top Gun: Maverick), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Amy Lee (EVANESCENCE), Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), Juliet Mills (Passions), Laraine Newman (Saturday Night Live), Raya Yarbrough (Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem – a Klok Opera), and Livia Zita (2022 winner – Society of Voice Arts and Sciences Award).

The hype levels are unreasonable. You bet your ass I’ll be checking this out on day one. It will be available as a digital purchase wherever you get your digital movies for $19.99, or you can get a physical Blu-ray copy at $29.98 ($39.99 in Canada).

Oh and not only will we get the movie on August 22, but a new Dethklok album Dethalbum IV will also be released that day. To that end, they released the album’s first new single titled “Aortic Desecration,” which you can check out below. The accompanying soundtrack to the film will be out three days later on August 25.

So yes, you read that right. A new movie and a whole album full of new Dethklok on the same day. What a time to be alive.
