Metallica Just Launched a Podcast Because the World Doesn’t Have Enough of Those

0

Stop the presses, everyone. Another major band is getting their word out “direct from the source,” on this time it’s not really as direct as you’d probably like. Yes, Metallica just launched their own podcast The Metallica Report, but no you won’t hear James, Kirk, Lars, or Rob on the first episode.

Rather than give fans what they’d probably want, the podcast instead features the editor of Metallica’s online fan magazine Steffan Chirazi and Renée Richardson, director of philanthropy for the band’s non-profit organization All Within My Hands. While I’m sure they’re lovely individuals with direct connections to the band, I’m pretty sure most people would want to hear… directly from the band.

Though they’re not on the first episode, the band released a statement explaining how excited they were that they had a podcast that will go live with new episodes every Wednesday.

“We’re excited to introduce The Metallica Report, launching today with our very first episode! Our new podcast will be a quick, weekly hit, including news, updates, exclusive features, and surprises from HQ and beyond… With each episode, Steffan and Renée will keep you informed with the latest news from Metallica HQ and dispatches from the road as the M72 Tour continues to make its way around the world. You’ll also enjoy exclusive, behind-the-scenes updates and interviews with the likes of the touring crew, poster and t-shirt artists, and fans through our mini-features. And we plan to make a few appearances ourselves!

“In addition to the most inside and up-to-date news, The Metallica Report will take requests: submit your inquiries, and Steffan and Renée will get to the bottom of your burning questions every Wednesday. We also want to hear your stories. Tell us how the music inspires you, share a great road story, or make a suggestion.”

So yeah. It’s a brand new podcast and its hosts will give fans the latest propaga — I mean, up to date information about the biggest band in the world. And at least that’s something?
