Sick Of It All is Suing Mobb Deep Over a Dragon Logo

Copyright law can be a bitch here in the U.S., and legendary hip-hop duo Mobb Deep is getting a first-hand lesson in that, as hardcore punk act Sick Of It All recently filed a lawsuit against them over the use of a pretty questionable dragon logo.

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on October 11, Sick Of It All’s record label Bush Baby Zamagate, Inc. complained that a dragon logo used occasionally by Mobb Deep since 1997 too closely resembles a dragon logo that the band’s been using since 1987. Clothing line Supreme is also named in the suit because of their collaboration earlier this year.

As you can tell from the images below, the logos are pretty fucking similar.

According to the lawsuit, which you can check out below, apparently Sick Of It All had reached out to Mobb Deep multiple times over the years to get them to stop using the logo. The case alleges that Mobb Deep at multiple times agreed to stop using the image altogether.

However, that never really happened and now here we are. A lawsuit from one artist to another where they’re demanding that Mobb Deep and Supreme both be barred from ever “”using the Infringing Mark or any other mark or marks confusingly similar thereto, alone or in combination with other words, names, styles, titles, designs, or marks in connection with the provision of any goods and services.”

You can check out the full filing below.
