Coliseum Return From Hiatus as C.L.S.M.

Beloved hardcore-punk band Coliseum are back in their final form, this time as C.L.S.M. after eight years out of the spotlight.

The Louisville, Kentucky band broke up in 2015 with five full-length studio albums under its belt. At the time, we weren’t sure we would get new music, but now they’re back under the new moniker with a new album, Infinity Shit, out now via Equal Vision Records.

In light of their return, the band said sounded like an episode of My Little Pony as they described what brought all three members back together under one banner.

“Surprise: We have a new album out today! C.L.S.M. Infinity Shit is 10 songs of raw hardcore from Ryan Patterson, Kayhan Varizi, and Carter Wilson. This an LP borne from enduring friendship, a desire to continue to create music together, and a seething rage that is best expressed through ferocious hardcore punk.”

Guitarist/vocalist/mastermind behind the band Ryan Patterson corroborated the statement, claiming that he and his bandmates remained close friends over the years. That bond kept the d ream of making more music together alive until they decided to start up C.L.S.M.

“Carter, Kayhan, and I are regularly in contact, often talking about new movies and music we like and keeping up to date on each other’s lives and bands. While Coliseum ended activity in 2015, for us the connection and friendship we had is still very much alive and we continued to desire to make music together. A jolt of inspiration hit me in 2021, and I started writing demos of fast and intense D-beat and skank beat hardcore songs then sent them to Carter and Kayhan. We were all excited about the music and the idea of working together so we made this album, purely based on the immediate creative spark and our long-term friendship and collaboration.”
