The Osbournes Recall How Filming the TV Show was a Nightmare

0

For three years in the early 2000s, the Osbournes became a fixture on MTV with their reality TV show. Fans all over felt like they were getting an unfiltered glimpse into the wacky, weird, and hilarious lives of Ozzy Osbourne and his family (minus one daughter Aimee). Yet during the latest episode of The Osbournes Podcast, the family we all watched on TV opened up once again about their experiences.

As it turns out, growing up in front of the country wasn’t so great for Jack and Kelly. During the aforementioned podcast segment, Jack posed the question about the affect the show had on each family member’s mental health.

Kelly said the show left very little to the imagination for the general public as far as the family was concerned, resulting in a situation where she felt the show had a “massive negative impact” on her growing up. Pointing to The Kardashians, she said her family’s show was different in that aspect.

“[There’s] still so much private [about the Kardashians] that people don’t know about.”

Sharon said she felt the experience was largely a positive, but that it came to an end when it needed to. Meanwhile, Ozzy said he was happy it happened because the show acts like a time capsule for the family, but he disliked how intrusive the show was, saying he couldn’t “pick my nose and squeeze a zit” without it making the show.

When pressed about whether something like that would happen again, Ozzy was very clear, saying that it won’t happen “in a million years.”

Ultimately, the Prince of Darkness said he realized things might not be going well when Jack asked his father about why people were laughing at how Ozzy was being shown on screen.

“I remember you came home one day, and said, ‘Dad, let me ask you a question. Do you like people laughing at you or with you? And I said something like, ‘As long as they’re laughing, I don’t give a shit.’ But in all honestly, it made my head think, ‘They’re laughing at me.’”
