Danish black/death metal outfit Strychnos have a new album coming out on May 17 and the world recently got its first taste of the mayhem with the single “Winds Warning The Final Storm.” The album, titled Armageddon Patronage, is the band’s follow up to their 2022 debut A Mother’s Curse.

According to Strychnos bassist and vocalist Martin Leth Andersen, the album was seen as a sort of natural progression from the band’s debut.

“The band seeks to refine and push further key elements from the debut—in ways of both aggressiveness and the more atmospheric parts. This follow-up also showcases an array of new details like alternative instrumentation, vocal variations, intros, outros, and a couple of noticeable guest appearances.”

Speaking of guest appearances, Strychnos revealed that Armageddon Patronage will feature a guest spot from none other than Michael Poulsen of Volbeat. Contributing his voice to the track “Endless Void Dimension,” Poulsen’s involvement should come as no surprise, as he’s been following the band for some time. He’s such a stan that he’s expressed his love for the band via social media.

“Ladies, gentleman and rotten souls out there: Out of little Denmark comes this very strong debut full length record from Death/Black Metallers Strychnos. It’s been many years since I’ve heard such a strong, convincing debut release from a Danish band with international potential and a sound and ‘stench’ they seem to be born with, IN THE NAME OF S…. Check ’em out.”

Armageddon Patronage was recorded and mixed by Lasse Ballade at Copenhagen’s Ballade Studios and mastered by Necromorbus‘ Tore Stjerna. Album artwork is by Phoebus Moreleón/Lïv & Död. You can preorder your copy today.
