Maryland Deathfest Claims My Dying Bride is Supposedly Canceling All 2024 Shows

0

Fans of death-doom outfit My Dying Bride are apparently going to have even more reason to feel sad, as the band is apparently putting the kibosh on all of their 2024 live shows. Keep in mind that’s not coming directly from the band — at least not yet — but rather from organizers of this year’s Maryland Deathfest.

According to a statement posted by the fest’s show runners, they were allegedly left on read by the band for a couple months before ultimately being told that they weren’t going to attend this year’s festivities. In light of their absence from the festival, organizers said Agalloch will take My Dying Bride’s place.

The organizers’ statement reads as follows:

“After 2 months of not receiving responses to our emails, My Dying Bride have recently informed us that they are cancelling all of their confirmed shows in 2024.

We suspect that the band will be posting about this soon, but we’re not waiting around for that because the fest is next month and you deserve to know now.

In addition to the approved visas that will now go unused, our frustration stems mostly over the fact that there are fans who organized travel around their appearance at MDF, only for the band to cancel in the 11th hour without offering a legitimate reason for doing so.

Despite the short notice, Agalloch have confirmed to fill the vacant slot on Friday 5/24.

This will be an exclusive East Coast appearance for the band – their first such appearance since 2014.”

As of this posting there’s not been an official statement from My Dying Bride, nor has Agalloch acknowledged their participation in this year’s Maryland Deathfest. When those two things happen, we’ll be sure to follow up.
