Motörhead Announce the Release of 1976 Lost Album ‘The Manticore Tapes’

0

Nearly 50 years after they were recorded, a long lost Motörhead album will soon see the light of day. Featuring the classic ‘three amigos’ lineup of Lemmy Kilmister on bass and vocals, Fast Eddie Clarke on guitar, and Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor on drums, The Manticore Tapes will soon be released worldwide.

For those that don’t know, The Manitcore Tapes were recorded by the legendary hard rock group while they’d set up camp at Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s Manticore Studios in Fulham, England, where they practiced regularly.

Today, 49 years later, Motörhead shared that they’ve recovered the long-lost album. The record features 11 unreleased songs and explores the band’s journey re-defining its lineup in ’76.

Speaking about the new record, the folks still promoting the band shared the following statement:

“It’s Motörhead day and to commemorate 50 years louder, we’re pleased to announce ‘The Manticore Tapes’ will be released on 27th June. This ‘lost’ album from 1976 marks the first-ever studio recordings of the ‘three amigos’ line-up and has never been heard before, until now! Watch the new video for ‘Motörhead’ and preorder with merch bundles now at link in bio! #motorhead50.”

A few hours ago, Motörhead shared a music video for their self-titled single. You can check that out in the clip below.
