Fan Severely Injured in Caliban Moshpit; Band Issues Statement
The pit is unforgiving, yet, it’s a place we’ve all found ourselves in at one show or another. There’s danger in that circle though, and one fan unfortunately experienced this at one of metalcore act Caliban‘s recent shows in the UK.
All we know so far is that the fan fell while in the pit and became unconscious and unresponsive. She suffered severe injuries. Caliban released the following statement on the matter:
“We had to interrupt our show last night after a serious incident in the moshpit at our show at Asylum Birmingham.
“A girl was injured during our set—she fell and was unconscious and unresponsive for several minutes. She suffered injuries to her face and was immediately attended to by venue staff.
“Thanks to the fast response of the team on-site and the calm, respectful behavior of the crowd, the situation was handled swiftly and professionally. Emergency services were called, and we’ve since been informed that, despite the nature of her injuries, she is expected to make a full recovery.
“The safety of everyone at our shows is always our highest priority. We want to thank the venue staff and promoter for their outstanding handling of the situation. (There is a merch care package waiting for you at the venue.)
“Please take care of each other out there. If someone falls, help them up. A Caliban show should always be a safe space for everyone. Take care.”
We’re sending out all the good juju we can to her and wish her a speedy recovery! Caliban’s tour continues tomorrow (May 12) in Zürich, Switzerland at Komplex 457, with shows to come in Munich, Vienna, Budapest, and more.
