Cattle Decapitation Release a Two-Hour Documentary on the Making of ‘Terrasite’
Two years ago, death metal motherfuckers Cattle Decapitation released the killer album Terrasite. Since then, they’ve toured all over the place in support of that release, with no real sign of slowing down on it since. To mark the special occasion, the band is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the work that went into said album with a two-hour documentary, From This Flesh: A Cattle Decapitation Story.
Shot, directed, and edited by Australian videographer Nicholas VanVidler, the documentary captured the entire recording process that went into making Terrasite. Armed with so much footage, the work apparently took two years to sift through, edit, and piece together to form a cohesive documentary. According to folks associated with the documentary and the band, From This Flesh: A Cattle Decapitation Story manages to “not only celebrate Terrasite, but inadvertently examines the history of the band from inception.”
Looking back, Cattle Decapitation vocalist Travis Ryan said he was stoked to give fans a peek behind the curtain to see what goes into creating modern death metal bangers.
“Our buddy Nick VanVidler (NJV Media, Body Prison) went to make a studio documentary about Terrasite and what came out was more of an extremely introspective look into the band as a whole with a specificity on how we write and record albums. It’s insightful, intense, funny, sad, unfiltered, immersive, and if you’re a longtime true fan of the band, you gotta see this thing.”
Cattle Decapitation is also heading out to Europe for a three-week run of headlining shows and festival dates. You can find the full list of dates below the documentary.
