Belushi Speed Ball’s War on Green Day Continues with New Single

Dave Mustaine and Metallica. David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. Bruce Dickinson and weed smokers. In the decades that make up metal’s history, there have been storied rivalries that bleed into legend. But only one such rivalry exists in the year of our lord 2025 where it’s very likely only one side knows it’s even happening — of course, I’m talking about the thrash metal madmen Belushi Speed Ball and pop-punk mega-giant Green Day.

For those that aren’t aware, the “beef” between Belushi Speed Ball and Green Day kicked off when the former felt their unique merch strategies were straight up ripped off by the latter. That resulted in them selling literal dog shit encased in resin in response to Green Day’s Dookie Demastered, which was released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that influential album. Then Green Day released a song titled “Smash It Like Belushi” and well, that type of provocation doesn’t go unpunished.

Enter Belushi Speed Ball’s newest single, “It’s A Green Day (You Know… as in Stocks)”, the latest shots fired in this bloodless, yet spirited one-sided war. The track is to be featured on the special re-issue of their most recent album, Stellkira: Editioñ Extra De Luxe, which will be released on May 23.

Speaking of the new single and everything else that’s going on in this conflict, bassist Vinny Castellano said it was ultimately all about giving the fans something new.

“Stoked to give the fans something, none of them asked for… a re-release one year later of our chart topping (probably) album! Stellkira: Editioñ Extra De Luxe features alternate Warhammer 40k, Catachan, Predator inspired art by Andrei Bouzikov. In addition, there will be no skits and instead will have one extra song about the stock market. Sounds like a cash gab?! Well our brake drums are shot and we are going to need a new transmission.”

As for the song itself, it’s the type of fast-paced crossover thrash metal you’d expect from Belushi Speed Ball. If this shit doesn’t get people opening up a circle pit, nothing will.

Stellkira: Editioñ Extra De Luxe will be released on May 23, but you can preorder your copy today.
