Opeth’s Fredrik Åkesson Will Join Ghost at the Polaris Music Prize Awards
This year’s Polar Music Prize Awards ceremony is taking place at the the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday, May 27. British rock band Queen are set to receive the official Swedish international award. In celebration of their win, Ghost will perform a tribute to the band alongside Opeth guitarist Fredrik Åkesson.
As a long-time collaborator with Queen, singer-songwriter/actor Adam Lambert will also be taking to stage that night, though with a performance with Queen. With the Polaris Music Prize Awards taking place in just a week, the event has recently dropped a line-up update. They wrote on on Instagram:
“We’re thrilled to announce an incredible lineup of guest artists, including Ghost, Adam Lambert, esperanza spalding, Robert Glasper, Leo Genovese, Miriam Bryant, Erik Grönvall, Fredrik Åkesson and Eric Ericson Chamber Choir conducted by Maria Goundorina and musicians from Musikhögskolan Ingesund.

In other Opeth news, earlier this year were awarded ‘The Best Hard Rock & Metal’ title at the Swedish Grammis for their 14th studio album The Last Will and Testament, which is easily praised for being a full length with zero filter, exploring the fiery, spellbinding pits of true progressive death metal.
The Polaris Music Prize Awards will be available to stream on Tuesday May 27 on TV4.
