Ithaca Release Their Final Single as a Band
After declaring that their career as a band was coming to an end, British metalcore act Ithaca has had the chance to curate their ending and go out exactly how they want to. Hence why today they came out and dropped what they’re calling their final single as a band.
The track, titled “Ithaca”, was described by the band as a sort of retrospective piece of music. It’s a chance to let it all out and leave it on the floor, as it were.
“‘Ithaca’ means home, the place you return to when the journey is complete. In this final song, we put this band to rest. Every memory, every tear, every laugh is in here. Thank you for everything. Om namo naryanaya.”
Though the band had originally announced that their final show was a gig that took place this past February at the O2 Academy Islington in London, they were invited to play one last show, only on a larger stage like this year’s ArcTanGent Festival in August.
Formed in 2012, Ithaca has played all over the place and released two full-length albums: 2017’s The Language of Injury and 2022’s They Fear Us. In recent years, they’ve made headlines by pushing for inclusivity in metal (often resulting in threats and doxxing) and backing out of Download Festival over that festival’s sponsors and their ties to Israel.
