Signs of the Swarm Join Forces with Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos for “Clouded Retinas”
With a massive European tour on the horizon, deathcore outfit Signs of the Swarm released a new single titled “Clouded Remains” off their forthcoming album To Rid Myself of Truth. And while that would be enough to get excited, the track also features a guest spot from Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos.
According to vocalist David Simonich, the track is about his personal experience with and diagnosis of Stargardt disease, which according to the National Institutes of Health is a “rare genetic eye disease that happens when fatty material builds up on the macula”. It can cause severe vision loss over time.
“‘Clouded Retinas’ is about my struggle coming to terms with my vision loss and diagnosis of Stargardt disease. I asked my friend Will Ramos to hop on the song not just to make it sound sick but also to spread awareness of degenerative diseases and disability. With Will holding it down for today’s deathcore, I tried to showcase my influences from Nate Johnson and Vincent Bennett because the song feels modern yet nostalgic at the same time.”
