Drain’s “Stealing Happiness From Tomorrow” Released, Video Dedicated to Drummer’s Cancer Battle
Fuck cancer. It’s garbage, terrible, and frankly I don’t like it. Now that my hot take is over, I also hate cancer because it’s caused musicians to miss out on so much. Shows, European festivals, entire album cycles… poof, gone. And after watching Drain‘s video for “Stealing Happiness From Tomorrow,” it’s easy to see how much fun their drummer Tim Flegal missed out on when he was forced to sit out a number of shows to undergo cancer treatment.
According to the band, Flegal’s absence was the first time he’d ever missed a show in the band’s 11 years. As such, the video below shows the band on tour, at times featuring a cardboard cutout of Flegal while the band engages in various shenanigans.
As for the track itself, which will be found on the band’s forthcoming album …Is Your Friend, it’s groovy as hell when it wants to be, while still being able to devolve into some heavy breakdowns. It really looks like these dudes have a fuck ton of fun while on the road, which makes Flegal’s absence hard for the rest of the guys.
Still, what we’ve got here is a video and track that shows the madness that Drain gets up to while also showcasing the insane energy levels they have at their shows.
