Tallah Channel Classic Monster Flicks with “as fate undoes” Music Video
It was apparently time for a little fun in the whole music video/new album promotion effort for Pennsylvania heavy metal group Tallah, as the music video for their new single “as fate undoes” looks like it was a blast to make. Featuring puppets, lots of intentionally poor shots, and a bit of a hokey storyline, it’s got everything you need to match that “high school film class project” vibe they nailed in this one.
And that vibe was not an accident, as the video’s director and Tallah bassist Max Portnoy explained:
“As fate undoes is heavily inspired by old monster movies and 1970s TV shows like Land Of The Lost. We haven’t done a tongue in cheek, humorous video before, but always joked about it, and decided to send it for this single, since it felt right for this song. After making the video, it was probably the most fun we’ve had at a video shoot. And now we have puppets of ourselves, so that’s cool.”
But don’t let the custom puppets and monster battles ripped straight out of B-movies fool you — “as fate undoes” is a legit Tallah track that should have fans stoked about the band’s forthcoming album Primeval: Obsession // Detachment.
Portnoy said the track stemmed largely from a unique piece of music he’d unexpectedly written one night.
“The live strings we recorded for this record are on display prominently with this track. The song was mainly written around this violin melody I wrote one night. Once that idea was cemented, it turned into what I feel is a hit song. It’s got one of the most replayable choruses that makes you want to bounce. It’s fun. It’s dark. It’s very much ‘Tallah’ at our core, all wrapped into three minutes.”
Tallah’s Primeval: Obsession // Detachment comes out September 5 via Earache Records, but you can pre-order it here.
