California Wildlife Refuge Names White Rhino Calf After Ozzy Osbourne

0

I know we’ve all been dealing with a pretty heavy blow with the loss of Ozzy Osbourne over the last few days, but do you know what helps heal such a grievous wound? Cute baby animals. Know what’s even better than cute animals? Cute baby animals that represent a hopeful future for endangered or near-threatened species.

Such is the story of little Ozzy — a healthy male white rhino calf that entered the world on July 22, the very same day we said goodbye to the “Prince of Darkness”. Though he may not have his horn quite yet, it looks like he’s going to have a healthy and happy upbringing at Safari West in Santa Rosa, California.

Thanks to the caretakers that man the facility and the support from his older brother Otto and mother Eesha, there’s a very good chance that Ozzy will develop an equally thick skin as the iconic rockstar that he’s named after. And if we’re at all lucky, he’ll live as long and help bring about a newly revitalized white rhino population.

For now though, the little tyke is living it up and can be visited at Safari West. To learn more about the sanctuary, its goals, and how you can visit the facility, be sure to head over to Safari West’s website.
