Ozzy’s Cause of Death Revealed

0

Weeks after he passed away at 76 years old, we now know what took the mighty Ozzy Osbourne from us. According to a report in The New York Times, the official death certificate filed at a registry in London indicates that he died from a heart attack that occurred “out of hospital”. The document also notes that he had coronary artery disease, as well as his well-documented Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.

The details listed in the document, which had been submitted by Ozzy’s daughter Aimée Rose Osbourne, corroborates some initial reporting that suggested there was an attempt at saving the vocalist’s life while at his mansion in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom on July 22. People close to the situation reported that an air ambulance was called to the property, where paramedics worked to try to resuscitate Osbourne for two hours.

At the time, the only confirmation we had about the attempt to save Ozzy’s life came from a spokesperson for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance who confirmed to The Daily Mail that “our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday.”

Following the unsuccessful attempt at saving Osbourne’s life, his family announced his passing in an online statement.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Ozzy’s health struggles over the year had been well-known for a long time. His battle with Parkinson’s disease was just the latest in a long line of back injuries and various ailments that plagued the vocalist. Over time, those issues crept up in his professional work, causing him to miss public appearances and cancel entire tours all together.

By the time he took the stage at ‘Back to the Beginning’ on July 5 in Birmingham’s Villa Park, he could no longer stand and perform. Instead, he sat atop a black throne and sang from there, though ever the showman, he could be seen constantly trying to get up out of his chair to perform.

Despite now knowing how he left this mortal coil, it’s important to remember that the man provided decades of entertainment and helped foster the creation of heavy metal altogether. Without those early Black Sabbath records and Ozzy’s voice featured front and center, this slice of the rock world we’ve all carved out with our passion and intensity would be vastly different. Bands all over the world for years now have cited Black Sabbath and Ozzy for their existence, let alone their enthusiasm.

There will never be another Ozzy Osbourne.

Osbourne was survived by his wife and manager Sharon and their children Aimée, Kelly and Jack. He also left behind two older children from his first marriage with Thelma Riley, Jessica and Louis. He also left behind some grandchildren.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Osbourne clan, as well as Ozzy’s myriad of collaborators and bandmates. He may be gone, but he’ll never be forgotten.
