Metallica’s Playing a Tiny Club Next Week to Celebrate Their New SiriusXM Show

0

The biggest metal band on the entire planet (Metallica, duh) is going to be playing a 250-person venue next week to celebrate the establishment of their new SiriusXM channel. The event is taking place on Thursday, August 28 at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, Long Island, New York and if you live on the east coast and aren’t trying to find a way to get there, your priorities might be a bit out of whack.

We’re talking the stadium selling out, international mega band whose shows register on the Richter scale Metallica playing a tiny venue. James might inadvertently spit on you. You might feel the wind of Rob Trujillo’s bass as he spins, swinging it past your head. You might get to hear the constant click of Kirk hitting his wah pedal over and over again. And Lars… well… you can imagine a more proficient drummer in his place — just in a smaller venue this time.

All of this is being done in celebration of the launch of “Maximum Metallica” on SiriusXM Channel 42 the following day, Friday, August 29 at noon ET. Described as “The Most Metallica Anywhere,” the channel is slated to feature “the hits, deep cuts, live shows, rare recordings, and exclusive interviews, plus behind-the-scenes stories and surprises” from the band itself.

News of the channel’s launch, and the tiny performance, was announced during Lars Ulrich’s visit to The Howard Stern Show this morning. He also announced that tickets won’t be sold to the public, rather their fan club members will get the chance to enter a lottery to win passes over on their website. SiriusXM will also hold a contest at the same time, offering a trip to New York to attend the show.

As for the rest of us plebs who either can’t make it to the show, the whole performance will be recorded and premiere on Maximum Metallica the following Monday, September 1 at noon, with multiple replays planned throughout the week and on demand on the SiriusXM app.

Remember, you can always catch Metallica at any of the band’s upcoming live shows, albeit in a much larger venue in Europe, Australia, or the Middle East. Those dates are listed below.
