Kelly Osbourne Verbally Slams WWE Wrestler Becky Lynch Over Ozzy/Birmingham Diss

In the world of professional wrestling, there’s this concept called “cheap heat.” It’s when a wrestler, usually the bad guy or “heel”, talks shit about the town the promotion’s performing in that night. Usually they’ll make fun of something like their terrible sports team, the allegation that everyone in the arena is too dumb/broke/ugly to understand anything, or they’ll capitalize on some sort of tragedy.

At the moment, the WWE is currently touring in Europe. That means stops in the U.K. and as we saw this past Monday, a live Monday Night RAW in Birmingham’s BP Pulse arena. So of course, Irish wrestler and current heel Becky Lynch did the obvious “cheap heat” thing and made fun of both Birmingham and their recently fallen hero, Ozzy Osbourne when arguing about whether she’ll wrestle fellow WWE star Nikki Bella at an upcoming premium live event in Paris.

“You can have your match, but in Paris at [‘The Clash in Paris’]. Because I am not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing that came out of here died a month ago.”

Obvious reference to Ozzy, which immediately got the crowd going. But Lynch wasn’t done.

“But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to L.A., a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”

The two female wrestlers fought in the ring and the show went on. But Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne was none too thrilled about her father — a WWE Hall of Famer, mind you — being referenced in such a way. She took to Instagram to bash Becky, though she tagged a fan account and not actually the wrestler’s personal account. She said:

“[Becky Lynch] you are a disrespectful dirtbag! Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire. #birminghamforever Shame on the @wwe for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!!”

Now, I’m sure Kelly knows wrestling’s fake, but damn that felt like there was some real animosity there. Maybe this is all one big work and we’re gonna see Kelly Osbourne interfere in the title match in Paris. She did lose all that post-pregnancy weight after all, so she’s probably in prime shape to get in the ring and put a hurting on “The Man.”
