Dee Snider’s Gotta Eat His Words: Twisted Sister’s Doing One of Those “Bullshit” Reunion Tours

0

Well, slap my ass with concealer and call me a “sick motherfucker,” it looks like glam heavy metal outfit Twisted Sister is reuniting to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Surely, that won’t go against any comments made by various members of the band following their 2016 farewell tour…

Oh right, Dee Snider called reunion tours were “bullshit” and targetted other bands like Black Sabbath and Mötley Crüe for going back on their retirement after a handful of years. He said the following back in 2023:

“I’ve said when people retire they should leave the stage. I’m tired of buying ‘No More Tours’ shirts and seeing people signing contracts in blood and then they show up three years later. I don’t believe in that bullshit.”

Snider’s also been on the record saying that he was a “man of my word” and that the band was donezo after their farewell tour. Did he leave room open for the occasional charity show or something for the band to play every so often? Sure. He even said that some of the offers to reunite were “getting close”. But what’s been announced today is completely different.

According to the band, they’ll be playing a world tour next year to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Founding guitarist and manager Jay Jay French burst at the seams in the press release about the fact that they’d reached such a milestone.

“Beginning on Feb. 2, 1976 in a little bar called The Turtleneck Inn in Hunter Mountain, NY, Dee Snider, Eddie Ojeda and I have called ourselves Twisted Sister and stood shoulder to shoulder for nearly five decades, through multiple personnel changes and thousands of performances. We are proud to celebrate a milestone that once felt unthinkable: a 50-year anniversary!! We have created a music and performance legacy that has and will continue to inspire millions of fans around the world. Twisted Forever, Forever Twisted!”

Naturally, Snider had something to say about this as well, apparently failing to see the contradiction he’s finding himself in based on past remarks:

“If you’re lucky enough to be in a band that people still want to see after fifty years(!), how can you not answer the call? In 2026, Twisted Fucking Sister will hit stages around the world because WE STILL WANNA ROCK!!”

There are no dates announced at this time, nor do we know when tickets will be made available. All we know is that you should never trust a band that goes on a “farewell tour” and Dee Snider’s got some ‘splainin’ to do.
