Dirk Verbeuren Rips Through Bent Sea’s New Track “Apathy And Irony”

Climate change is real. It’s happening and we’re not doing anything to stop it. That’s the concept behind Bent Sea’s latest single “Apathy And Irony” off the grindcore supergroup’s debut album The Dormant Ruin.

Released earlier this month, the album is an opening salvo from a band comprised of Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren, Aborted vocalist Sven de Caluwé, and Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury. If you know all three of these guys, then you know their stance on the state of the environment and mankind’s seeming unwillingness to do anything to address the problem. At least Verbeuren said as much:

“This one is about how we know we’re destroying our planet, yet no one seems to be willing to put a stop to it… The apathy of humankind and the irony of ‘progress’, which is increasingly looking like it’s our downfall.”

Though the video doesn’t feature anyone but Verbeuren, it’s kind of hard to recognize how wild these guys get on their respective instruments. That being said, Verbeuren sure can play the fuck out of the drums.
