Soulfly Taps Nails’ Todd Jones for New Track “Nihilist”
Next month, the iconic groove metal outfit Soulfly will release their 13th studio album, titled Chama. Earlier today, Max Cavalera and the guys opted to give fans a bit more of a taste of what’s to come with the incredibly explosive single “Nihilist”, featuring Nails frontman Todd Jones.
As you’ll hear from the clip below, the track is a scorcher. With the new song out in the wild, Cavalera spoke about the track:
“My lyrics are inspired by LG of Entombed and Nihilist. He left this earth in 2021 and he was always a big influence on me. This is one of the heaviest songs on the record and I love the fact that we went to Bulgaria to make the video. Todd Jones is the special guest on the song, delivering the hardest line on the record. ‘I don’t believe in anything!’”
This time around, Soulfly is comprised of Max Cavalera on vocals and guitar, Max’s son Igor Amadeus Cavalera is on bass, Zyon Cavalera sits behind the kit on drums, and longtime guitarist Mike De Leon helps bolster the riffs.
As both the band’s drummer and producer, Zyon said he’s been excited to continue working with Soulfly in his current capacity, since each time has apparently given him something new to get stoked about.
“With each Soulfly record I’ve played on, I can feel my evolution happening in real time. This one was no different — I got to push the band into new places. It was a blast.”
Chama will be released on October 24 via Nuclear Blast Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
