Foo Fighters Release Live EP ‘Are Playing Where??? Vol. 1’ by Surprise
Well, well, well. Look what we have here. It’s a new EP! And it’s a live one! From the Foo Fighters! And they didn’t even warn us about it. This is the kind of surprise I can get behind.
That’s right. Foo Fighters woke up today choosing happiness for everyone by surprising releasing a six-song live EP, called Are Playing Where??? Vol. 1 this morning. It’s made up of bits taken from the various club shows they played across the country last month, including sets from San Luis Obispo’s Fremont Theater, Santa Ana’s The Observatory, Washington, D.C.’s Black Cat and Toad’s Place in New Haven.
Some of the songs come from the Foo Fighters’ self-titled debut album from 1995, the old bonus track “Winnebago,” and “White Limo” from 2011’s Wasting Light. They’ll all be familiar, but maybe in a way you haven’t heard before.
That’s not the only thing about this surprise, though. Foo Fighters kind of have a reputation for do-goodery and putting positivity out into the world (refs not a bad thing to be known for), and the same can be said about this EP. Aside from being exclusively released on Bandcamp, proceeds from the record will go towards charities local to the cities featured on it. Specifically, it’ll go to programs that fight food insecurity in San Luis Obispo and Santa Ana, California on the West Coast, and DC and New Haven, Connecticut on the East Coast.
