There’s an Unreleased Brent Hinds Solo Album That an Ex-Bandmate Claims is “Cool as Sh*t”
Ever since the tragic death of ex-Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, there’s been speculation about the various pieces of music he wrote on his own. There’s no doubt that he was one of the more creative forces behind the popular Atlanta band, so the idea of him having troves of undiscovered music that might just blow your mind isn’t too farfetched. And as it turns out, he may have had a complete unreleased solo album ready to go before his demise.v
According to an interview in the latest edition of Metal Hammer, Duane Trucks, the drummer of Hinds’ psychobilly band Fiend Without A Face, said he’s personally heard “a whole album of tunes” that have yet to make their way to the public.
“Brent’s got an entire album that hasn’t seen the light of day. He sent me the whole album of tunes and it’s cool as shit.”
During his chat with Metal Hammer, Trucks explained how losing Hinds was a blow to creativity in the Atlanta region.
“You rarely meet someone with so many facets who does things in such an honest, vulnerable way. He really fucking meant what he was playing. It was not a put-on. He wasn’t just doing this for a cheque.”
Hinds passed away on August 20 when he collided with an SUV while riding his motorcycle. Police eventually placed the blame for the accident on Hinds.
