Sun Dont Shine’s Debut Album Title Revealed, New Single “In The End” Now Streaming
It’s been a long two years since they announced their existence, but supergroup Sun Dont Shine (formerly Eye Am) has finally released some concrete information on their forthcoming debut album Birth To Death. And to mark the occasion, they’ve released a new single titled “In The End”.
The doomy, sludgey group featuring Crowbar frontman Kirk Windstein, former Crowbar bassist Todd Strange, and ex-Type O Negative members Kenny Hickey and Johnny Kelly will release their debut studio effort early next year on Corpse Paint Records. Having already released now five tracks that we can only presume will be on the record’s final list of songs, I’d say we have a pretty good idea of what this band is about so far and I gotta say — it’s pretty exciting shit.
Speaking of the new single itself, Windstein explained how it fits in the band’s overall sound:
“‘In The End’ is a great example of what we want Sun Dont Shine to sound like. It’s got dynamics, melody and a bit of heaviness to it.”
Similarly, Corpse Paint Records’ Andrew Spaulding weighed in on the retrospective nature of “In The End,” especially when listened to in the context of the people we’ve all lost over the years.
“‘In the End’ was one of those melodies that stayed with me from the moment it was written. I found myself humming it constantly. It carried a different weight—slower, more reflective—but the lyrics cut deep in a way that immediately made me think about the people we’ve lost along the way. For us, that includes giants who shaped this band’s very DNA: Peter Steele, Dimebag Darrell, and most recently, Ace Frehley.”
While we don’t have any preorder information for the new album just yet, you can still get your hands on the “In The End” CD directly from Corpse Paint Records. You can also cop the band’s other singles “What You Are”, “Coming Down”, “The Promise Song”, and “Cryptomnesia”, too.
