Overkill to Start Recording Their Next Album Before The Year’s Over

New Jersey’s known for many exports: tomatoes, cranberries, hilariously bad Italian accents, Bruce Springsteen… the list goes on, really. But metalheads know the Garden State’s given us some killer bands over the years, including God Forbid, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Monster Magnet, Misfits… this list could go for a while too. And it turns out next year, you can readd Overkill to the list, as it sounds like their next album is approaching.

During an interview with the Metal Mayhem ROC podcast (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Overkill frontman Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth revealed that the band was putting together the follow up to 2023’s Scorched.

“We’re demoed out. Jeramie Kling’s playing drums for us now. [Former Overkill drummer] Jason Bittner moved on to other things… So we’re just moving along as if there is no issue with D.D. We’re going to start recording before the first of the year. We’ll get some stuff done, I’m sure just the drum tracks; we’re working on those as of right now. I’m just filling in the blanks with what the other dudes have done. And it’s kind of business as usual at this point. So, no big news to report as of this moment, but tomorrow you never know.”

There’s been talk of a new album for a while now, with Verni having said in the past. At the time, he also said the new album would becoming out sometime next year. So yeah, maybe stop by the Garden State and get yourself a pork roll sammich and the new Overkill record — whenever that comes out, that is.
