Former Guns N’ Roses Manager Sues Band for Blocking Autobiography
Stop trying to block people’s blessings, y’all. As a writer, I get just wanting to write what you wanna write. Hopefully, this isn’t a money grab exposé type of situation, but who’s to say? Alan Niven, apparently. He’s the former manager for Guns N’ Roses, and he’s got an autobiography in the works detailing his time in the industry. Since part of that time was spent with Guns N’ Roses, they’d be a part of the book, but they really don’t want to be. For that, Niven is suing them.
Niven’s suit, filed this past Monday, November 3rd, 2025, claims that the band is blocking him from releasing his autobiography, titled Sound N’ Fury, because of a confidentiality agreement from 1991 that Niven says is invalid. According to Niven, Axl Rose never signed the agreement, making whatever involving him that would be in totally up for game. He points out that whatever confidentiality terms that would’ve been set between Niven and the band would only apply to information exchanged while they were still in their professional relationship.
He also argues that he and the band have openly and agreeably discussed a book about their shared history for years, with him also alleging that an unnamed member of the Guns N’ Roses team from 2015–2018 also pushed him to write it.
All Niven is seeking is a trial, damages for the band interfering, and the court’s approval to move forward with publishing the book. Since Guns N’ Roses aren’t the only band Niven worked with, Sound N’ Fury would also cover his time with bands like The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, and more heavy hitters.
It’s obviously not available for sale yet, but you can pre-order Sound N’ Fury by going here.
