Sabaton Release “Crossing the Rubicon” Video, History Teachers Everywhere Rejoice
Ah, power metal and historical military battles. Like chocolate and peanut butter or Tango and Cash, they just work together. I mean, hell — Sabaton made an entire career about it and it looks like they won’t stop any time soon. Especially after releasing their latest single “Crossing the Rubicon”, which if you paid attention in history class, is a reference to a bit of defiance by Julius Caesar that was marked by a proverbial “point of no return.”
Anywho, the video in question premiered in front of roughly 20,000 people during the band’s sold out O2 Arena show in London. They’re currently on tour, but with the release of this new track, attendees will likely get to hear “Crossing the Rubicon” live.
“This was one of the most enjoyable music videos we’ve ever made. Everything flowed smoothly thanks to the amazing energy of the actors and the unique charm of the location. We spent two days filming in Sabbioneta, Italy, at the Teatro all’Antica, which is one of the oldest surviving indoor theatres in Europe. It was a fascinating location, full of character and history. Since the theatre operates as a museum during the day, we were only allowed to film in the evenings, which added a layer of challenge to the production.”
The new track is part of the band’s forthcoming album Legends, which is out now wherever you get your music. The band is also out on tour right now, so you can find the date that best suits you. You can find the full list of shows below.
