Lukas Magyar Quits Veil Of Maya During Band’s Hiatus, Will Focus on Sifyn Moving Forward

0

After more than a decade with progressive metalcore act Veil Of Maya, vocalist Lukas Magyar announced that he’s stepping away from the band to focus on his new project, Sifyn. Veil Of Maya is currently on hiatus as their guitarist Marc Okubo continues his role as a touring guitarist for Falling In Reverse.

Having been with the band since he joined it in 2014, Magyar has since removed any mention of Veil Of Maya from his Instagram bio. With fans currently in limbo, some fans had reached out in Magyar’s comments section expressing their concern that the band would never come back. As reported on by The PRP, one fan asked Magyar if “this mean[s] we likely won’t be seeing VOM again?” His response was pretty straight-forward.

“If you do, it won’t be with me. I decided to part ways and focus on Sifyn.”

Veil Of Maya, as you may recall, announced their decision to go into a hiatus back in September 2024. At the time, they issued the following statement:

“We have made the difficult decision to have Veil Of Maya go on hiatus and we will not be playing any of the upcoming festivals or tours. We apologize to our fans and appreciate everyone’s support over the years. This break is necessary for us to reassess our future, and we hope you understand. When the time feels right, we’ll update you on what’s next for Veil Of Maya we will be back. Thank you again.”

As of this moment, Veil Of Maya has yet to comment on Magyar’s departure, nor have they signaled that they’re actively looking for Maygar’s replacement or that they’re even going to continue on as a band. The only comment we’ve ever gotten of a Veil Of Maya return came from Okubo, who in January 2025 said “when Veil comes back it will be the heavy version.”
