Ice Nine Kills Finish Writing ‘The Slashin’ of the Christ’ Script
Ice Nine Kills aren’t just entertaining in a metalcore sense—they’re continually building their repertoire of entertainment in the horror realm, and they’re about to add another effort under their belt. They’ve been working on a script for a slasher they’re calling The Slashin’ of the Christ—which is a perfect name by the way—and now that the script is finished, they apparently want to usher in some pretty big names in the horror game to join.
The band’s vocalist Spencer Charnas wrote the script, along with Paul Soter, who worked on Super Troopers and Club Dread, and co-produced by horror icon Greg Nicotero, famously of The Walking Dead. Charnas recently spoke with Metal Hammer about the project, and what we all should expect for Ice Nine’s first toe dip into the feature-length film pool…
“Like everything we do, there’s horror, there’s violence, but there’s a wink to the camera. We’re not taking ourselves too seriously, and I think the world needs a movie like this.”
Based on the film’s name, of course you’d expect it to be at least mildly offensive, but Charnas doesn’t think it will be. He said: “I think that it might be like The Exorcist, which was touted by the Catholic Church because it showed on-screen what they’ve been talking about.” Hmm.
Charnas also said the band are currently in talks with several film studios and potential directors. Apparently, there might be some familiar faces and names.
“I certainly hope so,” Charnas said. “And who’s to say who will live and who will die?”
Well I know I’ll be waiting to see.
