New Miserable Experience (Ex-Revocation, Rivers of Nihil) Drop New Song “Ataraxia”

0

The latest single off of New Miserable Experience’s forthcoming album Gild The Lily hit the internets today and it’s once again an incredibly interesting and unique sonic experience.

Comprised of vocalist and bassist David Grossman (ex-Rosetta) and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Mahesh Kost (Model Prisoner), Rosetta drummer Bruce “B.J.” McMurtrie Jr., technical metal bassist Brett Bamberger (ex-Revocation), and guitarist Brody Uttley (Rivers Of Nihil), it’s really unlike what you’d expect from those guys. Instead of brutality and metal, this is more of an alt-synth rock effort that really traffics in atmosphere and emotion.

Speaking of the track, the band said they really felt like “Ataraxia” had the same sort of vibe as a trip-hop classic.

“‘Ataraxia’ started as one of Brody’s [Uttley] ideas. We all felt it had a Portishead type of vibe that we instantly grabbed on to. As far as the lyrics, when life is falling apart the idea of ‘Ataraxia’ (calmness untroubled by mental or emotional disquiet) sounds very appealing.”

New Miserable Experience’s Gild The Lily will be released on January 23 via Pelagic Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
